Synopsis:
Roberto, once a celebrated professional dancer, lost his retirement savings in the Argentine banking crash. Twenty-year-old Marcella wants to emigrate soon. Poet Alfredo has made a virtue of necessity and turned his living room into a bookstore. Nestor has to struggle through life despite his 50 years as a newspaper delivery boy. Fabiana misses her mother, who works as a cleaner in faraway Spain, and the rockers from “Las Munecas” seek new inspiration in old traditions. They all love tango and meet once a week to dance in the 200-year-old “Cartedral.” “12 Tangos – Adios Buenos Aires” tells the stories of these dancers and their ancestors. Tango, crisis, immigration, and emigration fit organically into the narrative. Through the past, present, and future of these people, the history of tango itself is told and a portrait of the city of Buenos Aires is drawn.
