Synopsis:
It's a freezing cold February morning in Reykjavík. The Bardal family is waking up. Grandfather Karl is sitting on the toilet. His daughter Steingerdur is making breakfast and lying down on the couch. Granddaughter Júlía is saying goodbye to one of her two lovers at the window, so she can spend the day and the coming night with the other.
In the next 24 hours, Karl will freeze his lip to a car lock, fall in love with a forgetful old actress, and almost rob a bank. Júlía will have to choose between bank clerk Gulli and sailor Hilmar. The pious Steingerdur will discover the devil in the body of the preacher Samúel, while the hard-drinking and pious man almost has a stripper on his conscience.
