Synopsis:
Marietta wants nothing more than a real dog – but because her little brother Tobias is allergic to animal hair, she has to settle for a collection of 98 stuffed dogs. For her ninth birthday, she gets more stuffed animals...and a strange stone from her family's African godchild. When Marietta learns that the stone is said to have magical powers, she tries it out without further ado – and suddenly there is a real dog in the room! Only Tobias has disappeared...
It quickly becomes clear: the dog is Tobias! Thrilled to finally be rid of her “stupid” brother, Marietta enjoys her happiness. However, Marietta cannot vote, and she realizes that the transformation back is not working. Not only that, but Marietta and the now-limbless Tobias also face countless turbulent times ahead. Between a grumpy grandmother, chaotic filming, email contact with Africa, and a magical secret, Marietta realizes what she really misses: her family.
Only when she wishes with all her heart that everyone will be together again does the spell break – for now. Because Tobias still has dreams of his own... and the magic stone provides one last surprise.
My Brother Is a Dog is a heartwarming comedy about sibling love, wishes, and what really matters in life.
